SECRET POND

Why is it called Secret Pond? Living in Iceland a while I was not able to find out the name of this pond neither the name of the hill so it stays a mystery. The pond is not visible unless you will climb on the top of the hill. The hill is situated at the edge of the Fludir village. The little car park is available and has easy access. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the top of the hill from the car park (no parking fee). All you need to do is just follow the path and go the uphill direction. A few minutes before reaching the top you will be able to see a little pond where you can follow the path and go around the pond with a few stops at viewing points providing stunning views of the whole area. In order to protect nature don't consider entering the pond and be mindful of the moss (it's not just any moss, this one grows almost 70years!). The whole hike will take you around 1 hour and will certainly take some space in your camera's memory card.
